🦇 It’s always a terrific day in kindergarten when Mrs. Podach visits!
Our students had an exciting lesson all about the characteristics and traits of bats — and even got to see real taxidermy bats up close!
Learning is always more fun when curiosity takes flight!

🧈 Ms. Birr’s class explored mixtures by making butter! Butter is a special type of mixture called a colloid, and students had a blast learning how it forms. They’ll even get to enjoy their creation during the next lesson! 😋

Ms. Mignin's Littles also took part in the DES Annual GREAT ICE CREAM DEBATE this afternoon. They have been studying how a democratic process works all fall with votes of naming our caterpillars, our fish, our free time choices, and today ice cream. The students understand everyone has a voice, but not everyone wins in a majority. Today they were able to be first time voters and earned their "I Voted Sticker"!

Our elementary students got in the voting spirit today!
They held their own election to choose their favorite ice cream flavor 🍦
They cast their votes digitally on a Google Form and proudly wore an “I Voted” sticker.
The votes are being counted, and next week students will enjoy an ice cream party featuring the winning flavor!
It was a fun way to learn about the importance of voting just in time for Election Day tomorrow. 🇺🇸

Parents — if you’d like your child to participate, please fill out the quick sign-up form here by Wednesday, November 19:

Last month, five Delta FFA members headed to the Fulton County Fairgrounds to teach 3rd graders from across the county all about small animals. Students had the chance to see adorable kittens, chickens, and rabbits up close while learning fun facts and answering questions to earn small prizes.
Our FFA members had a blast teaching, interacting with the 3rd graders, and sharing their love of animals! Check out some photos of our FFA members and third graders inaction!

We are so proud of our district nurse, Laura Brown, for representing Pike-Delta-York Schools in Washington, D.C. this week as she advocated for the HEARTS Act—legislation that supports cardiac emergency response readiness in schools.
Laura leads our Cardiac Emergency Response Teams (CERT) in our district. Her passion and advocacy highlight the importance of supporting the safety of all students.
Thank you to Nurse Brown for lending her voice to such an important cause and representing PDY in this life-saving effort. 💚 🐾

The Littles in Mrs. Mignin’s class are having a wonderful time exploring their October themes — pumpkins, gourds, worms, spiders, and all things orange! 🍂🧡
Working in centers gives these young learners a chance to build fine motor skills while diving into math, reading, and science in fun, hands-on ways.
