Mrs. Alice Simon
Alice Simon was elected to the Pike-Delta-York Board of Education in 2000. After one term, there was an 8 year hiatus. She was reelected in 2012, and just completed her 18th year on the board of education. She graduated from PDY before completing an accounting program at Owens Technical College and then an Associate Degree in Nursing at Northwest State Community College. Mrs. Simon worked as a registered nurse at Fulton County Health Center before retiring in January 2020. For 5 years, she provided child care in her home, before again retiring in fall 2025. Not only is Alice a Delta High School Class of 1980 alumni, she is also a proud parent of four PDY graduates and a proud grandparent of two students at Delta Elementary School, with more starting soon! As Alice explains, she "ran for the Board of Education in 1999 while her four children were still at PDY." At the time, she felt it was important to be involved in the hiring of the new superintendent and discussing how to best utilize district funding. She strives to help PDY "continue to provide a quality education while being fiscally responsible to the community."
