PDY Schools Prepares Students for Future Careers
On September 25, 2024, Lt. Governor Jon Husted visited Delta High School to make the thrilling announcement that PDY Schools received $2.5 million in a technical education grant from the state of Ohio. PDY Schools received the most funding out of the 34 schools who received the grant that day. This is due to the partnerships we have developed with our local industry, and the vision our team has put together to plan a comprehensive educational program to expose students to future careers.
Our plan is laid out below and it incorporates three main initiatives: a middle school career exploration lab, a greenhouse and industrial kitchen, and an industrial arts innovation lab.
Middle School Career Exploration Lab
A career explorations lab will be built at the middle school, offering students early exposure to various career fields and skills. This initiative will foster interest and readiness for future careers in a wide range of career fields. This early exposure to career interests and strengths will help build our students' "Why" they need strong communication and problem-solving skills.
High School Innovation Lab
At Delta High School, we will transform our current industrial arts lab into a cutting-edge Innovation Lab, which will feature a virtual heavy equipment operator simulator, industry-grade metal fabrication equipment, and advanced engineering design tools. These upgrades will create an immersive, hands-on learning environment, allowing students to develop critical skills in advanced manufacturing, engineering, and design. This modernized lab will empower students to explore and excel in high-demand industries and trades.
Greenhouse and Industrial Kitchen
PDY Schools plans to launch a comprehensive farm-to-table initiative by constructing a greenhouse and an industrial kitchen. This program will provide students with real-world experience in agriculture, sustainability, culinary arts, and food science. By engaging students in the entire food production process, from growing ingredients to preparing meals, the initiative will promote healthy, sustainable practices while building valuable career skills.
As you can see, these exciting initiatives directly correlate to our district's Portrait of a Panther to prepare our students to be Future Ready to be Enrolled, Enlisted, Employed, or an Entrepreneur.
