2017-1018 HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HONOR SOCIETY CHAPTER AT PDYMS

    As PDYMS Honor Society members, you are a part of an elite, special group.  It is a privilege to be in the honor society, not a right.  Not everyone who applies is accepted into the society.  As members, your conduct will be held to a high standard.  After school detentions, Saturday Schools, and discipline referrals will not be tolerated.

    Scholarship - Must maintain 3.5 GPA in the core subjects of ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies

    Character - Good morals (ex. no lying, no cheating, etc.) and follows the school rules (ex. dress code, proper cell phone/technology use, etc.)

    Citizenship - Respect towards people in authority, strive to make PDYMS a school where everyone is accepted and bullying is not tolerated

    Leadership - Lead by examples and others will follow

    **All members must participate in the fund raiser.  It is how the society pays for the induction ceremony, defrays the cost of some activities, transportation, fancy dinner, etc.

    All members must come to at least four (4) activities, four (4) meetings, and complete four (4) volunteer/service projects in order to remain a member of the society.

    Eighth graders must come to at least five (5) activities, five (5) meetings, and complete five (5) volunteer/service projects and participate in the fund raiser in order to attend the fancy dinner in May.

*****Other service activities will be available during the school year.  The American Legion serves breakfast on Sundays and they sometimes need volunteers to help.  Coach Sprow's Backpacks are packed almost every Thursday.  Pay attention to the announcements.

Dear Potential Candidate,     

You have been selected as a potential candidate for Pike Delta York Middle School Honor Society.  The Honor Society is an organization which seeks to encourages scholarship, leadership, citizenship and character among its members.  

Here at PDYMS, there are three criteria that you must accomplish in order to be considered as a potential member.  You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in the four core subjects from the previous school year and the first quarter of this year.  You, not your parent or another adult, must fill out the application and turn it in to Ms. Foor by the due date of 10/4/18.  (Late applications will not be accepted.)  Finally, you must receive an exemplary evaluation from the PDYMS Staff.
